Day 6: Southern Colorado

Breakfast at the Sidewalk Cafe back in town in Gunnison was nice. We didn't try their "world's largest pancakes" though.

Head West out of town on 50 a few miles then turn South onto 149 across a reservoir and towards Lake City.

The road's a bit barren at first, then you get Aspens and steeper mountains.

There's snow on the tall peaks above 10,000 feet:

But it's clear down low for now:

Car and driver calls 149 one of the 2 best roads in Colorado. So far it's hard to disagree.

South on 149 to Lake City, beautiful Lake San Cristobal Snow on Slumgullion Pass Spring Creek Pass also snowy Road could be incredibly fast were it not for rain. Lunch at Creede, a charming mining town making a comeback due to Summer tourists pick up 160 at South Fork Wolf Creek Pass also snowy, but not on road south on 84 at Pagosa Springs 64 east to Chama, New Mexico Stay at the Posada Encanto B&B in Chama
